Project:
A busy doctor (and fashionista!) and her partner contacted us whilst they were undertaking a major renovation, reconfiguring their contemporary house to better accommodate their young, growing family. An internal courtyard was to be filled in to create more living space, the master suite reconfigured and a new kitchen and bathrooms.
Our role:
We developed the colour scheme inside and out, and presented the client with paint and finish schedules, which she simply passed onto her builder. This meant tiles, bathroom fixtures, lighting etc. could be ordered early, trades would know what products they could rough-in for, and there’d be no delays.
Once the hard surface schedules were done, we started creating the furniture and furnishing concept. The existing furniture was predominately cream, and had unfortunately been pretty much destroyed by spills and muddy paws. The brief called for stylish furniture that could withstand more than a little wear and tear from toddlers and puppies.
Highlights:
The rich jewel-toned colour scheme of emerald green and sapphire blue, allowed for elegant furnishings that were deep enough to be quite forgiving. The icing on the cake was the specifically commissioned artworks from Lisa Taylor King, which were finished in dramatic emerald greens and gold leaf.
The outcome:
A home with a ‘magazine level finish’ the clients asked for, but one that discretely utilised high-performance fabrics, outdoor rugs and safe non-toxic stain protection to better withstand the daily messes made by children and pets. To the clients’ great delight, this home appeared in Home Design magazine.
