INTERIOR DECORATING NORMAN PARK

Timeless Harmony

Project:
This was our second time working with these lovely clients. We first met this family of five when they were renovating their beautiful old Queenslander and provided paint schedules and furniture and furnishing solutions. Seven years down the track, the home needed a general refresh – and they were adding a guest suite.

Our role:
As their children had by now grown into teenagers, the clients requested more seating options so the family could spread out a bit, especially when their teens invited friends over. We added versatile ‘beanies’ to the living area, and upholstered seating to the built-in banquette in the breakfast nook. Other practical changes included adding a pair of tropical style ceiling fans to help cool the room, and a set of large wicker baskets to hide all the fireplace paraphernalia.

Highlights:
The request was for an elegant but budget friendly guest suite. We achieved this by being careful in our fabric and bedding selections and specifying a gorgeous but relatively affordable rattan bedside. A simple ticking roman blind, and the addition of some inexpensive VJ panels elevated the look for less. The ensuite was a simple affair, clad in white and grey marble.

Outcome:
Our clients were super pleased with the practical and aesthetic changes, and the efficiency of the project. The teens were most pleased with the ‘beanies’ which are used to sit and lie on, and as comfy footrests. Our original project for Norman Park ended up in Home Beautiful magazine, and this refresh was reshot for Queensland Homes magazine.
