INTERIOR DESIGN & STYLING TARRIGINDI

Urban Sanctuary

Project:
This mid-century character home was undergoing a major renovation, which included revamping the living room and deck, and adding a hotel-inspired master suite. Due to the living room shrinking in size to accommodate a stairwell, one objective was to make it appear larger, another was to furnish the underutilised deck in a way that would encourage the family to use it more.

Our role:
The living room was updated with all new furniture and furnishings, alongside cosmetic architectural features such as the timber white slats in the stairwell and new cabinetry doors in the dining area. Everything was kept fresh and breezy with a colour palette of greens and linens. We also selected all furniture and furnishings for the newly created master bedroom, and finishes and fixtures for the ensuite.

Highlights:
Our delightful clients wanted to evoke memories of their favourite Tasmanian boutique hotel in the remodel of the master suite. We achieved this with grass weave wallpaper in a deep moss, sumptuous velvet bedding and by transforming an old white wardrobe into a timber lined reading nook. The highlight of the ensuite was the sleek charcoal cabinets, fitted with aged brass ‘bamboo’ handles, and the beautiful green art deco tiles.

Outcome:
The house turned out beautifully, and the transformation of the deck appeared in Home Beautiful magazine. The old table and chairs were replaced with a luxurious upholstered modular sofa, designer cushions and an outdoor rug – and the clients added a fireplace, which we selected natural stone cladding for. Our clients tell us they don’t go away as much anymore, as they prefer to holiday at home!
